Paizo’s Stonehenge begins world takeover

Stonehenge: An Anthology Board Game, one of the boardgames I still have to look at, is expanding the number of games the pieces can be used to play. Already sporting five games by popular designers, Paizo Publishing‘s Stonehenge set will support play of three new game designs with the release of Stonehenge: Nocturne this fall. For a mere $19.99, gamers will have new Stonehenge goodness from Serge Laget and Bruno Cathala (Shadows Over Camelot), Klaus-Jürgen Wrede (Carcassonne), and Andrew Looney (Fluxx and all things Looney Labs). The expansion will also provide game pieces for a sixth and seventh player, usable in all Stonehenge games.

Not content with the expansion announcement, Paizo has launched the Stonehenge Library to encourage fans to submit their own rulesets for Stonehenge. Known game designers will also contribute rules to the fledgling community, which will be available for a fee. Seems a worthwhile approach for Paizo to keep their game vital and add replay value. OgreCave approves.

Paizo Announces First Stonehenge: An Anthology Board Gameâ„¢ Expansion

Stonehenge Library launched this week.

June 20, 2007 (BELLEVUE, Wash.) – Paizo Publishing, a leading publisher of fantasy RPG accessories and quality board games, announced today a Stonehenge: An Anthology Board Game expansion set for release this fall. Stonehenge: Nocturne™ presents three new games by four popular game designers and also adds new player pieces for the sixth and seventh players. All previously published Stonehenge games can use the new pieces.

Published under the Titanic Gamesâ„¢ imprint, Stonehenge: Nocturne features “The Stargate”, a deduction game by Serge Laget & Bruno Cathala (co-creators of Shadows Over Camelot), “Sun & Moon”, a building game by Klaus-Jürgen Wrede (creator of Carcassonne), and “Stonehenge Hippie Festival”, a party game by Andrew Looney (creator of Fluxx). Stonehenge: Nocturne will retail for $19.99.

Paizo also launched the highly anticipated Stonehenge Library late last week.

“Maybe the best thing about our game is the Stonehenge Library,” says Mike Selinker, Titanic Games Brand Manager and co-creator of Stonehenge. “Anyone with a new Stonehenge game idea now has the ability to type their rules into a special form that then creates a downloadable PDF for everyone to enjoy. This gives fans the opportunity to see their games alongside games by Richard Garfield or Bruno
Faidutti.”

The Stonehenge Library can be found online at paizo.com/stonehengelibrary. “Sacrifice Roulette”, an official Stonehenge gambling game by Jason Bulmahn (Managing Editor, Dragon magazine), is the first Library game available for free download. As fans submit more games, Paizo hopes to build a community of Stonehenge game designers who critique and improve each other’s work. Future games by established game designers are planned for the Library and Paizo plans to make them available for a small fee. User submitted games are always free downloads. Check the web address above for guidelines and additional details.

Stonehenge: An Anthology Board Game is available worldwide anywhere board games are sold.
