OgreCave GNU – DunDraCon 35 (Patrick Kapera/Crafty Games)
by admin on Mar.10, 2011, under Convention coverage, GNU episode, Interviews
Another recording from DunDraCon 35, this Gaming News Update episode sits down with Patrick Kapera of Crafty Games. Much craftiness was afoot at DunDraCon this year, so we went straight to the source to hear about the upcoming releases for FantasyCraft – Spellbound and Gear for the Ages – as well as what sets the game apart from other fantasy RPGs. Patrick also hints at the rigorous playtesting of SpyCraft 3.0 (including an “exposure” mechanic), which will be published when the game’s ready. From the sound of things, it’ll be worth the wait. Finally, we learn more about the Mistborn RPG, Crafty Games’ licensed system based on the dark fantasy novels of Brandon Sanderson, due out by this fall/GenCon.

by admin on Mar.10, 2011, under Convention coverage, GNU episode, Interviews
Recorded at DunDraCon 35, this Gaming News Update gets the annual update from Darren Watts, though now in addition to his Hero Games responsibilities he also serves as President of Indie Press Revolution. DunDraCon tradition demands we hear all the knowledge Darren wishes to impart, so listen attentively! Darren describes the Hero System Sixth Edition Equipment Guide and Villains 2, then smoothly transitions to his IPR hat as he mentions the highlights from his “What’s Hot” seminar with Ken Hite: Fiasco (Bully Pulpit Games), Blowback (Two Scooters Press), The Dresden Files (Evil Hat Productions), Smallville and Leverage (Margaret Weis Productions), and other topics. (Many of these hot items were in our latest OgreCave Christmas Gift Guide, by the way.)

As Matt puts it, Cthulhutech is for Cthulhu game fans who “want to be able to shoot back for once.” Matt also tells us about the Cthonian Stars RPG, and Nuts, the sequel to this year’s Origins Award winner for Best Card Game, Poo.

by admin on Jul.14, 2010, under GNU episode, Interviews
It’s certainly a rarity for a game company to release a card game, a board game, and a PC game about a single fantasy setting, let alone to do it all all within a few months of each other. That’s exactly what Petroglyph is planning to do to support their fantasy setting, Graxia. Deputy Ogre Lee Valentine interviews Chuck Kroegel, General Manager of Petroglyph and designer of some of its board games, to get the whole story for this OgreCave.com Gaming News Update.
