WizKids calls off LotR CSG

Looks like WizKids “has removed the Lord of the Rings CSG from its product release schedule. ” Perhaps their product launches were getting too cramped again, which was one of the main reasons they cited for layoffs in the past. They’ll reschedule it, no doubt.

Text of WizKids press release follows:

WizKids Announces Change in Release Schedule

June 21, 2004

In order to better focus on the development of the newly formed Constructible Strategy Game (CSG) genre, WizKids has removed the Lord of the Rings CSG from its product release schedule.

This move will allow WizKids to focus on supporting the first CSG release, Pirates of the Spanish Main, and the further development of the new “Epic Battle System,” which allows for thousands of units, giant war machines and heroes to clash on the battle field.
