1) Wow, we really haven’t posted since the podcast. 2) New podcast will be up Monday night probably. 3) The Warmachine Faction Decks are the best product Privateer has ever made. They comprise one (or, in the case of warjacks commonly fielded in groups, more) of each character card for

D&D Minis – Angelfire: First look
As both a roleplayer and a miniatures gamer, I was excited to receive some Angelfire figs to fiddle with. The selection assembled for the set seems to have a wide range of heroic individuals, menacing beasts, and staples of fantasy miniatures (kobolds and skeletons? Check). I even managed to get
Confrontation publishers plan pre-painted, non-collectible mech game for ’06
Just yesterday I was complaining to Chris that there hadn’t been any really good miniatures games that went with pre-painted figures but were non-collectible, or at least sold on the same a la carte basis as Warmachine and others. I would love to be playing more Warmachine, but I can’t
Race Day CSG: NASCAR connection is official
Which, sadly, probably precludes a lot of the interesting mix-and-match options we could have had if driver, car, and sponsor didn’t have to fit reality. I so wanted to swap out the Tide sponsorship for, say, Monsanto and get the special ability of spewing toxic chemical clouds onto the track.
Rumors of WizKids’ next CSG release
We’ve recently heard an unconfirmed rumor of plans for a NASCAR CSG coming from WizKids in the fall. I don’t know if that would have the same mass appeal that HeroClix and Pirates of the Spanish Main have stumbled across, but it’ll be interesting to see how the game’s received.
In praise of tiltyblocks!
If you’re like me, you did not even notice that Attack Vector: Tactical won this year’s Origins Award for best minis game. That is probably because, like me, you hadn’t seen this picture. Hubba hubba. The whole starship-combat market has been empty to the point of echoing lately, so it’s
Axis & Allies Miniatures pics, gameplay
That guy got to play a little bit of it and took a bunch of pics. He says it’s not long on innovation rules-wise but it’s solid and seems fun. Anyway the most important thing here is clearly that the turrets rotate. Sold!
WizKids offers treasure to avid captains
For all you scurvy Pirates of the Spanish Main out there (or Crimson Coast, or whereever), WizKids has some loot for you. The company has announced its Pirates Plunder Promotion, in which sea dogs of the CSG variety can mail in just a few game wrappers (plus a receipt, so
A Star Wars miniature that is big
Here, have a face full of AT-AT.
Oh, good freakin’ God: White Wolf announces CSG
“Speed and valor bring victory!” What brings bankruptcy, I wonder? Racer Knights Of Falconus will feature “a variety of plastic cardstock components from which to build your Racer including engines, tires, weapons, armor, and more plus a rules sheet and two dice.” Ooooooh, two dice! I mean, I really like
Mythic licenses Warhammer for MMORPGs
Is there some rule in Warhammer for deja vu? Or oh-God-oh-God-not-again?
Avalon Hill announces Axis & Allies Miniatures for Gen Con
Finally, some collectible WWII minis. But, um, there’s this little game out there called Flames of War, and… well, I guess we’ll see how it shakes out. I mean, D&D Minis is certainly kicking ass over Mage Knight these days, and you could probably say they’re in the same segment
Mage Knight's latest last gasp: RPG for PCs
It turns out that Mage Knight is still good for something after all: english assignment help lending its name to otherwise unrelated PC games. As the press release says (PDF warning; full text is pasted below), “Mage Knight: Apocalypse opens up the battle for the Land in completely different ways.”
Mongoose sends boxes of ugly bugs into distribution
Seriously. Mean, ugly, nasty, and, er, tall. I’d rather face a bunch of Genestealers than a pack of these. So: recall that this is the Andy Chambers-designed brand new Starship Troopers minis game. After a long time of talk and no action, distributors have it and it should be in
WalMart uses miniatures to make more retailer friends
Apparently mega-chain retailer WalMart is moving deeper into collectible miniatures territory, a trend that’s making some game store retailers nervous. As a guest retailer reports at ICV2, WalMart is selling the Star Wars Miniatures Game at well below MSRP (and though the story claims WalMart did not carry the first
